SUPPORT YOUR SIGNIFICANT ARTIST

"You should check out my site, when you get a chance" "I also have a YouTube channel" "Did you read my blog yet? What did you think?"

"Oh, that's wassup" is the only answer I get. Let me tell y'all something. If you can't support your significant other or the person you're dating in whatever they do, you need to keep it moving.

Unless you wanna be his trap queen, because you bout that life. Girl, please. I ain't going to jail for nobody.

We all know that it's not easy being a working artist. Hence the name "starving artists". We can't just go to school get a degree, get a second degree, a certification and then go out into the world and apply for jobs in our field. Now, I'm not trying to throw shade at those of you who are out here corporate thuggin, because Lord knows I couldn't handle going to school 4 more times and putting in all that work like y'all did. But it gets frustrating when you're trying not to starve and working a bunch of little odd jobs in order to have time to build your own brand. Hell, you barely got time to even have a significant other.

I know, we all make fun of those guys that are out here promoting that trash mixtape to no end. And some of those mixtapes are really trash, but if you're going to be with him, you got to learn how to support his craft. Because that's what makes them happy. And if that's bae, why wouldn't you want them to be happy?

Side note: I say "bae" now. Because I'm cool and hip.

Listen, I'm an actress, a writer and part time employee in PETTYville. My life revolves around my craft. I put a lot of effort into building myself and trying to create my own lane in this industry. Most of my conversations consist of me dreaming about being on t.v and what new resturant I want to try next. So, if you're the type that hates trying new things, thinks blogs are stupid and artists are wierdos, I'm probably not going to suit your fancy. And that's ok. I remember talking to this guy once that hated the idea of me being an actress, he said that artists are usually arrogant and superficial. So I shot him in his pinky toe and blocked his number. He wasn't for me.

If I send you a link to my blog and I come back the next day and ask you what you thought, and all you say is "it was tight" I already know you didn't read it, fam. And I can't rock with that. Aintbritfunny or die homie. (That's the equivalent to ride or die) *throws up gang signs*

Look, the moral of the story is, every little gesture counts. Your significant artist is in a play? Go see it. They wrote a book? Be the first to get a copy. They sing back up? Go to the show. They do photography? Be their subject. They're a chef? Ask them to cook for you. They make clothes? Wear the brand on your next date with them. They have an audition? Help them go over lines. They wrote a blog? Repost that joint on Facebook!

I do what I do because somebody told me I can. And there are still people who constantly encourage me along the journey.

Get you a support system. You know it's hard out here for an artist.
