I`M NOT DRIVING THIS TIME
"No, it's cool, I`ll drive" Listen, depending on who I`m with, I like to be in control. I`m not one of those people with a large circle of friends. I am very picky about the people that I choose to kick it with. I've been in too many situations where I was stuck somewhere with a group of people, but I was the only one who was ready to go home. Story of my life. I`m always ready to go home. The food is free and the sheets is warm!
As I've mentioned before, when living in Chicago, I had no car. Now that I look back, that was a blessing and burden at the same time. I walked EVERYWHERE. I took the trains, buses and cabs anywhere I wanted to go. Y'all know my calf muscles was on point, right? I hated waiting in the cold for the train or walking in bad weather, but man, I had my little grocery cart that I put together myself with the wheels on it. I`d roll that joker down the street with them groceries so good, I made being car-less look cool. I didn't have to worry about getting stuck with people or things I didn't want to be around. All I had to do was call a cab or catch the big nasty red line train back to the crib. I had my one friend that stuck with me. We always had an agreement that if the scene was weird, lame or there weren't any sexy men, we would stay 30 minutes, have a drink and leave. The drink usually made those 30 minutes more bearable. Plus, we didn't have to worry about who would be the designated driver because it was usually some cab driver named Rick (Isn't that a nice cab driver name?). I remember this one time, the cab driver gave me his number. That was awkward. The selfish part of me wanted to call him for free rides but I feel like Rick would of wanted my drawls in return and that's just nasty.
I always seem to be the one who drives, even if I don't want to. I think people just assume that I want to be the driver for the night now, but sometimes, I just want to be carefree and ride shotgun. Why I always got to meet you at your house or a central location in order for you to drive? I come pick you up and take you home all the time. Hell, by the time I get to you, I've already fought half the battle, I might as well keep it pushing. I want to get the "I`m outside" text sometimes.
The bright side of that is, I get to decide when we leave. Y'all, when I'm ready to go, I'm ready to go. I even like to drive separate cars on first dates sometimes. Only when I`m not sure about you. Because when the conversation gets weird and you keep talking about your ex girlfriend, its time for me to pay for my little appetizers and get up out of there. Just kidding, you know I'm not paying for them potato skins.
The moral of the story is, I don't have gas money and I`m bored so come get me.
