MY PASSION WILL BE MY PROFESSION

"My passion will be my profession!"

This year, I have been making an intentional effort to have more confidence to venture out on my own. Ya'll know I'm hella awkward and never know what to do with my hands. Plus, I'm always afraid that someone is going to say something really funny. I snort while laughing, when something is really funny. Then everybody at the party will be like, "Unn, that tall girl with the afro over there snorting like a pig" and then they will point at me and laugh. Then they'll record me snorting and put in on Twitter and I'll run out of the party crying and will never have any friends.

Welp! Luckily, none of that has happened.

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending recording R&B looping artist, Taylor Mallory's "Take Control" album release party. Even though I went alone, I felt welcomed and was even able to meet and network with new folks. A lot of the people in attendance were my old friends from college. It was so encouraging to be around like mined individuals and see that they haven't given up on their dreams.

I think that it is so important that we support one another along the journey. Overnight success is not a thing. During Taylor's performance, he had us repeat an affirmation. "My passion will be my profession." Hearing myself say this aloud almost brought me to tears (She gone cry in the Uber). Don't ever let anyone tell you that "Being an artist is not a real job". Taylor is one of the walking examples, that as long as you have your drive, determination and love for your art, the sky is limit! From making his debut as an actor on Chicago P.D. this year to dropping his album this week, this brotha is on fire and I just don't want him to be surprised when I ask to hold a couple of dollars.

Psst!.... Stream "Take Control" on levelnextmusic.com and all major streaming platforms!

Seeing him perform is a really dope experience! He creates the music live on stage through looping! It is mind blowing to watch. If you're in the Chicago area this weekend, you DO NOT want to miss your opportunity to catch his show. Here's where you can find him tomorrow night:

Look family, the moral of the story is, you got this! Don't give up on your dreams. It doesn't matter if you're an artist, lawyer or stripper. Yes, you will get tired. Yes, it's hard. But you have to believe that you can do it. Or, you can just watch your homies get famous and sit in they VIP sections in the club. It's up to you.
